Friday Sessions #101: ‘You count on me’ – ‘Inner Light’ Elderbrook and Bob Moses

Friday Sessions — 4 weeks ago
Friday Sessions - Test Your English With The Power Of Music. Do you remember the last time you needed to trust or rely on someone or something? Who can you really count on?

Friday Sessions #101 is back with a bang! Thanks to everyone who responded with such great feedback on the last 100, and also for your collaborative suggestions. You’ll see those coming up in the following weeks….

This week’s artists Elderbrook (an English electronic musician and DJ,) & ‘Bob Moses’ (originally from Vancouver) who are perhaps described best by their record label Redlight: “Meshing guitar licks, a moody smolder and a dash of dance-floor ambience with lyrical depth and classic songwriting, the duo created a sound that appeals equally to club goers and rock music fans.” As you get mesmerised by their video for today’s track, you might notice the lyric ‘count on me,’ which echoes the balance and alignment of the dancer’s bodies as they circle around one another.

Todays lyric: ‘You count on me’

When you ‘count on’ someone, you ‘rely on them’ or ‘trust them.’ But you can also ‘count on’ something meaning that you have an expectation. Check out the examples below and test out the different meanings:

  1. “I can’t say no, she’s counting on me to support her.”
  2. “If they haven’t listened to you in the past, I’m not sure you can count on them.”
  3. “I’m counting on the deal going through, otherwise we might loose the client.”

Lyrics:

Standing tired
On your feet
Lightest head
Just like me

You wanna dance
I wanna lead
A sleight of the hand
That you never see

You wanna dance
You don’t know how to get it on the floor
Then don’t hold back for anyone
Close your eyes, just follow the inner light

You count on me
You count on me
You count on me

I can fly
I can breathe
And learn to sing
Like do-re-mi

So you wanna dance
And you wanna be
A bat out of hell
Follow my lead

You wanna dance
You don’t know how to get it on the floor
Then don’t hold back for anyone
Close your eyes, just follow the inner light
(You count on me)

You wanna dance
You don’t know how to get it on the floor
Then don’t hold back for anyone
Close your eyes, just follow the inner light
(You count on me)

So follow
Me to
Our old life

Falling Deeper
Into the light
Into the light

You wanna dance
I wanna lead
A sleight of the hand
That you never see

You wanna dance
You don’t know how to get it on the floor
Then don’t hold back for anyone
Close your eyes just for the inner light
You count on me

You wanna dance
You don’t know how to get it on the floor
Then don’t hold back for anyone
Close your eyes just for the inner light

You count on me
You count on me
You count on me
