Friday Sessions #52: ‘Falling Into Place’ – ‘Jigsaw Falling Into Place’ Radiohead

Everything is beginning to make sense this Friday. Today’s session focuses on the title ‘Jigsaw Falling Into Place’ a track from Radiohead’s 2007 album In Rainbows. The phrase ‘to fall into place’ is used when things start to become clear, or make sense. So when a jigsaw falls into place, all the pieces of the puzzle fit together!
Note that the same phrase is sometimes used with the verbs ‘click’ or ‘fit’, as well as ‘fall.’
Examples:
“After trying to reach a solution, suddenly everything just fell into place.”
“The negotiation was complicated but it clicked into place in the final hour.”
“Don’t worry about it, I am sure everything will fall into place!“
(The video was recorded through small cameras attached to the band’s bicycle helmets.)
Lyrics:
Just as you take my hand
Just as you write my number down
Just as the drinks arrive
Just as they play your favourite song
As your blather disappears
No longer wound up like a spring
Before you’ve had too much
Come back in focus again
The walls are bending shape
They got a cheshire cat grin
All blurring into one
This place is on a mission
Before the night owl
Before the animal noises
Closed circuit cameras
Before you’re comatose
Before you run away from me
Before you’re lost between the notes
The beat goes round and round
The beat goes round and round
I never really got there
I just pretended that I had
Words are blunt instruments
Words are sawed off shotguns
Come on and let it out
Come on and let it out
Come on and let it out
Come on and let it out
Before you run away from me
Before you’re lost between the notes
Just as you take the mic
Just as you dance, dance, dance
Jigsaw falling into place
So there is nothing to explain
Regard each other as you pass
She looks back, you look back
Not just once
Not just twice
Wish away nightmare
Wish away nightmare
You got a light you can feel it on your back
A light you can feel it on your back
Jigsaw falling into place
